The Pinks of Autumn

 

This card starts with a card base of Old Olive cut 4-1/4″ x 11″, scored at 5-1/2″ and folded.  The front of the card base has been embossed with the Layering Leaves embossing folder.  I skipped misting the card base with water as wanted a more subtle embossing and I just love the texture it gave this rather simple card.  Next, 3 ovals (2″, 2-3/4″ and 3-1/2″) were die cut using stitched ovals dies and attached to each other  with Tombow multimedia glue in preparation for triple stamping.  Then, I pulled out the Painted Harvest stamp set.  I just love two-layer stamps!  The outline image was inked with Powder Pink and stamped in two different locations, positioning the stamp so that it  went across all three layers.  Next, the filler stamp was inked, again in Powder Pink being careful to line it up with the outline.  This produced a wonderful tonal image without having to use two different inks – magic!  The center of the flowers was stamped using Pear Pizzaz ink stamped off.  It leaves that cool lighter area in the center without having to do anything special.

The sentiment is from the Beautiful Bouquet stamp set and was inked in Sweet Sugarplum to make it pop.  This was stamped directly onto the center oval.

Next, using a scrap of Whisper White card stock, I repeated the sunflower stamping, using the same inks as before, and then fussy cut it and attached with a Stampin’ Dimensional.   I did stamp the center directly onto the flower before cutting it out but then decided I wanted it to have some dimension, so I stamped it again and fussy cut it.  It is attached to the center of the flower with a dimensional.  And you know me, had to add a bit of clear Wink of Stella to the petals which is why they look a tad darker than the other two, but I love the shimmer it gives when the light hits it just right.

The inside panel is Whisper White and has a stamped sunflower in the lower right corner using the same ink colors.

And, that’s it for this card!  This card went together pretty quickly once the fussy cutting was done.  If you’re not a fan of fussy cutting, you can just stamp that third flower on the ovals and it will still look great.  Oh, and by the way, my friend assured me that sunflowers do indeed come in pink – who knew?
