I love Valentine’s Day because of all the wonderful ways of expressing how we feel towards friends, family and loved ones. It’s also a time when I made lots of cards, treat holders and other love-themed projects.
Today’s card is pretty clean and simple. The large amount of white space really helps show off the pretty paper used for the heart die cuts. Let’s talk about how it is made.
The card base is A2 size, 4.25″ x 11″ scored and folded at 5-1/2″ I cut it from a sheet of Powder Pink card stock (144244) as I wanted something subtle so as not to take away from the focal image. The focal panel is a piece of 4″ x 5-1/4″ Whisper White card stock (100730). I stamped the sentiment from Beautiful Bouquet stamp set (143666) using Versamark ink (102283), covered it with Gold Stampin’ Emboss powder (109129) and set it with the Heat Tool (129053).
The hearts were made using Painted with Love DSP (145580) and Color Theory Memories and More (144210) paper cut out using the Lots to Love Framelits Dies(145653). Before adhering them to the card front panel, I laid them out to see where to stamp the flourish from the Beautiful Peacock stamp set (147239). Once I had the placement correct, I inked up the flourish stamp in Calypso Coral ink (126983). For a bit of variety I then reinked just the top half of the flourish stamp with Melon Mambo (126948) and stamped over the top of the original one. Love the depth it gives this “tail.” I then stamped the little flowers from the Beautiful Peacock stamp set (147239) using Versamark ink (102283), Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder 109129) and heat set it with the Heat Tool (129053). The centers of the flowers are Pearl Basic Jewels (144219) colored with Stampin Blends in Calypso Coral Dark (144044) and Rich Razzleberry Dark (144583).
Now I was ready to adhere the hearts. The purple one is glued down with Multipurpose Liquid Glue (110755) and the pink/gold one is propped up using Stampin’ Dimensionals (104430).
For the inside of the card, I stamped the coordinating sentiment from the Beautiful Bouquet stamp set (143666) using Melon Mambo ink (126948) onto a 4″ x 5-1/4″ panel of Whisper White card stock (100730). I then adhered it to the card using Multipurpose Liquid Glue (110755).
And there you have it! This card also works for weddings and anniversaries. I hope you will give it a try.
