Lovely Wishes – for the Stamp n Hop February Blog Hop

Hello from the USA and happy Saturday everyone!  Welcome to Stamp n Hop’s first international blog hop; I am so thrilled to be participating in it!  There are lots of wonderful crafters from around the world , so be sure to scroll to the end to continue hopping.  Now on to my contribution.

I have always found black and white to be very challenging when they are the predominant colors used in a card.  Once I saw the Petal Passion DSP in the Occasions catalog though I knew I had to give it a try.  And I think it paired beautifully with the stamp set Lovely Wishes.  I kept color to an absolute minimum on this card (very difficult for me LOL) but I am very happy with the result.

I started with a card base of Whisper White (100730) cut 4-1/4″ x 11″, scored and folded at 5-1/2″.  I then cut a panel the same size as the card front from the Petal Passion DSP (145589).  For the opening, I use the second largest die from the Lots of Labels Framelits (138281).  I then cut a frame for the inside using a piece of Melon Mambo cardstock (115320) and the third largest die from the same die set.

Before assembling, I laid both pieces onto the card base to determine where to stamp the sentiment.  After making a few pencil marks, I inked up the sentiment from Lovely Wishes stamp set (145924) in Smoky Slate ink (131179) and stamped it in the center.  I then erased my pencil marks.

While I had that stamp set out, I stamped the leaf  and flower branch twice onto a scrap of Whisper White using Versamark ink (102283) covered that with Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder (109131) and heat set it using the Heat Tool (129053).  I then fussy cut each of the embossed images out – a little tricky but definitely doable and so worth the effort.

Now it was time to put it all together.  I adhered the Melon Mambo piece to the card front using Multipurpose Liquid Glue (110755).  I then popped the DSP panel up using foam tape making sure it was centered over the Melon Mambo frame.  To attach the heat embossed leafy images, I used Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals (144108) doubling up where necessary.

Lastly I tied a small bow using Basic Gray Shimmer Ribbon (a free item with purchase in Sale-A-Bration) and adhered that to the bottom left image using a Mini Glue Dot (103683).  For a finishing touch, I added three Basic Rhinestone Jewels (144220) and a smattering of the same which I colored with a Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker (100082).

And there you have it!  My first black and white (with a touch of color) card.  I really do like the Petal Passion DSP and hope you will give this card a try.  If you have any questions about it just drop me a comment.
