Birthday Tweet – for the Inkin’ Krew Blog Hop

Time once again for the monthly Inkin’ Krew Blog Hop.  I am always so happy to participate in hopping with my team and we have some real “tweets” in store for you LOL!

When I saw the Bird Banter stamp set in the Occasions Catalog I knew right away that it was perfect for a birthday card I needed and that’s how this project was born.  It’s very simple and clean looking and super easy to create.

Using Whisper White cardstock (100730) I cut the focal panel using the largest square in the Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies (145372).  I love how the stitching really gives the panel a finished look.  Onto this I stamped the branch from Bird Banter Photopolymer Stamp Set (145852).  The branch is longer than the panel, so I masked the end with a sticky note before inking it up with the Smoky Slate Classic Stampin’ Pad(131179).  I then used the light Old Olive and Crumb Cake Dark markers in the Stampin’ Blends Markers Collection (147475) to color in the branch and leaves.  Next, I chose the cute parakeet from the same stamp set and inked it up again using Smoky Slate, stamping it right on top of the branch.  This is very easy to line up since these are photopolymer stamps. This cutie pie was colored with a combination of Pool Party light and dark, Bermuda Bay light and Daffodil Delight light Blends.  I also colored in his beak with the Pumpkin Pie dark Blend.  All that remained was to stamp the sentiment, again from Bird Banter, at the top of the panel using the Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad (132708).

I wanted the focal panel to have a cute background to sit on, so I cut a piece of Whisper White cardstock 4″ x 5-1/4″.  I then took the leafy branch stamp from another Occasions stamp set, Petal Palette (145785), inked it up in Pear Pizzaz (131180) and stamped it twice from the center out to the upper left and again to the lower right.

That looked nice, but it still needed a little something extra to set off the focal panel.  I happened to have a small piece of the green striped pattern found in the Delightful Daisy DSP (144137) that was just big enough to mount the focal panel onto with about 1/8″ border all around.  This was glued to the focal panel with Multipurpose Liquid Glue (110755).  Now I was ready to finish assembling the card.

I cut a piece of Soft Sky cardstock (131203) 4-1/4″ x 11″ and scored and folded it at 5-1/2″.  I adhered the leafy stamped panel to it using Multipurpose Liquid Glue.  I adhered the focal panel to this, popping it up with Stampin’ Dimensionals (104430).  For finishing touches, I added 3 enamel dot from the Brights Enamel Shapes (141680) and then filled in the parakeet with Glossy accents to give it a bit of shine (see pic below.)
