Welcome back to the Tuesday Beginners Series. Tonight we discuss how using just one color on top of white can really add impact to your card. We also discuss a bit of color theory.
This card uses the Fresh Florals Designer Series Paper. It is double sided and has all of the colors in the 2017-2019 In Colors group. I used Tranquil Tide for the sample card, but we switch to Powder Pink for the card we make tonight. It also features the Basket Weave Dynamic Textured Impressions embossing folder – free with a $50 purchase during Sale-A-Bration which ends 3/31/18.

Thanks and see you next week!
I was reminded by Facebook (and a particularly festive friend) that Christmas is less than 3 months away – oh joy! So I guess it’s time I turned my attention back to holiday cards. I tend to be a procrastinator which in previous years has found me frantically searching for cards a week before Christmas and praying they will get to the recipients in time. I promised myself this year would be different. Full of determination (which hopefully will last), I created today’s card.
This is a very, very easy card to make and is would be great to mass produce – handy, right? Especially for procrastinators like me LOL!
The base is Cherry Cobbler cardstock cut 4-1/4″ x 11″, scored and folded at 5-1/2″. I then pulled out my Eastern Beauty stamp set and lo and behold there is a stamp that looks just like a star. I stamped three of these onto the upper third of the card base using Versamark and then heat embossed with Gold Embossing Powder.
Next I cut a section of Bundle of Joy designer series paper measuring 3″ x 4″ which means you can get 12 pieces out of a 12″ x 12″ sheet! This was adhered to the bottom part of the card base, leaving a narrow border of the Cherry Cobbler card base to peek through. To hide the seam, I ran a thin strip of gold washi tape from the Year of Cheer Specialty series along the top of the designer paper. I carried it from end to end, but you could just have it run the width of paper if you wanted. Both looked good to me.
The sentiment is from the Watercolor Christmas stamp set. I stamped it on Very Vanilla cardstock and then used the Everyday Label punch to cut it out. I am loving this new punch y’all! To help it stand out a bit more, I punched some Gold Glimmer Paper with the Everyday Label punch, then cut it in half vertically and adhered the pieces to the sides of the sentiment label. This was then added to the card with Stampin Dimensionals. The finishing touch is gold sequins from the Metallics Sequin Assortment which were added with just a touch of Tombow glue.
And that was pretty much that! Once I had the design elements in mind it took no time at all to produce. And it thrills me that I can get a dozen cards from 1 sheet of DSP, 6 sheets of cardstock and less than half a sheet of glimmer paper!
I hope that you will give this one a try. Please let me know if you have any questions about this project. As always, I am happy to help and would love to become your demonstrator for all things Stampin’ Up! Just click on the store icon in the upper right of the page. Ta ta for now!
