Delighted to be hoppin’ again! This month we are celebrating summer – my favorite time of the year! Fire flies are winking at night, dragonflies buzz during the day and I get to break out my summer dresses -yay!. And the inspiration for this card came from just that.
Now on to the mechanics. I started with Pool Party card stock cut 4.25 x 11 and scored at 5.5 for a top folding card. Next came a panel of patterned paper from the Naturally Eclectic DSP. The focal image is one of the Beautiful You gals stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto a Whisper White panel. Then came the difficult part – what colors to use for her dress? Well, the answer was to stamp the image again onto the reverse side of the same DSP (a piece left over when cutting the mat), fussy cutting that and attaching it to her with Tombow multi glue. Her hat was colored in with a Prismacolor pencil and highlights added with a white gel pen to make it look more like a straw hat.
To ground everything, a length of our beautiful Finely Woven Ribbon in Tranquil Tide was wrapped around the matted piece and secured with glue dots. For the sentiment, I again went to the Beautiful You stamp set and chose Celebrate which was stamped in Versafine ink onto a Whisper White stitched oval. This was matted with a little more Tombow multi glue to the next largest stitched oval die cut from Lemon Lime Twist card stock and then both were attached to the focal panel with dimensionals. (I used the new mini dimensionals as the ribbon was too wide to accommodate the regular ones.) Lastly, a very thin sliver of gold was added just below the focal image to give it some definition and 3 of the new glitter enamel dots finished the front.
The inside received a panel of Whisper White for writing ease which was trimmed with a 1/2″ strip of the same DSP as on the front. Lovely!
