Remarkable You!

One of my favorite things to come out of this year’s Occasions catalog is the slim note cards and envelopes.  Sometimes it’s nice to have a quick little note that you can send to someone just to let them know you are thinking of them.  A set of 4 decorated and put into a cute box makes a great gift too!  Creating this boxed set also gave me the opportunity to play with the Remarkable You stamp set – I just love coloring in the flowers and leaves, so many possibilities!   So I thought I would put together some quick instructions to show you how I made them.

Notes w

The box is made using the die from Lots to Love Box Framelits Dies (145653).  You will need to cut two pieces of Whisper White cardstock (100730).  I then stamped the magnolia and the sentiment from Remarkable You Stamp Set (139894) in Memento Tuxedo Black ink (132708) and colored the floral image using the Pink Pirouette Stampin’ Blends (144604) using both the dark and the light markers.   I then gave it the old splatter treatment using a Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker (100082).  Then it was time to adhere them together with Fast Fuse (129026).  There are lots of great YouTube videos that show how to put it together if you need help.

I grabbed four of the Whisper White Narrow Note Cards & Envelopes (145583) and stamped each with an image from the Remarkable You stamp set (info listed above) using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink.  Each image is colored using Prismacolor Colored Pencils because the Stampin’ Blends do tend to bleed through to the back.  This gave a nice softness to the floral images.  I tucked the cards with their matching envelopes into the box and that as they say was that!

Such an easy project, especially if you like coloring!  I hope you will give it a try.  Let me know if you have any questions at all.  You can purchase the products by clicking on the Shop Now button in the upper right corner, or simply click here if you are on your mobile device.

Have fun and Ta for now!

Brushos!

Colors really can make the card and we now have a new to us medium that is so much fun to play with – Brusho Crystal Colour!  Similar to watercolor but way more versatile.  There are multiple techniques you can use to apply Brusho and some great YouTube videos out there that explain how.

brusho cards w

I started with Shimmery White cardstock.  It stands up to water much better than regular Whisper White.  I then used our Stampin’ Spritzer and liberally applied water to the surface.  I then tapped on a little of each of the Brusho colors (Brilliant Red, Gamboge, Yellow, Moss Green and Prussian Blue).  It was like mini fireworks when the crystals hit the water!  Areas where I wanted the colors to “run” a bit, I simply spritzed on more water holding the spritzer about 4-6″ away from the paper for a finer mist and better control.  I then heat set it but if you have the patience you could just let it air dry.

Now, let’s talk about how I got two cards made from this one background.

brusho 2 w

I die cut the butterfly out using one of the Lots of Labels dies.  I then cut the same size die from our Basic Black cardstock, cut it in half vertically and then glued each piece to the end of the butterfly focal.  This was then mounted onto one of the premade cards in the Tutti Frutti Cards and Envelopes pack (which happens to be a free item in the Sale-A-Bration catalog) using Stampin’ Dimensionals.  I then glued a 1/2″ strip of Basic Black cardstock with Multipurpose Liquid Glue to the bottom leaving a small border.  I stamped the sentiment from Dragonfly Dream with Versamark ink and heat embossed it with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder.  I cut this down to fit and adhered it with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.  Easy, breezy!

I then took the leftover Brusho background and used it for the card below.  I stamped the floral image from the Petal Palette stamp set in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and then using my Blender Pens and several inks (Wild Wasabi, Calypso Coral and So Saffron) colored in the leaves and petals.  I then used a blender pen and Soft Sky ink to do a light wash around the image to ground it.  Once my focal image was complete, I used one of the Lots of Labels dies to cut it out.  I also cut out the same die in Basic Black cardstock, cut it in half and glued each piece to the top and bottom of the focal piece.  The Brusho background was adhered to another of the Tutti Frutti Cards and Envelopes card base using multipurpose glue.  The focal piece was then glued in the center of that leaving a nice border of the card base showing through.  Finally, I stamped the sentiment from Petal Palette onto a scrap piece of Whisper White cardstock, cut it down and flagged the end, and adhered it to the lower left using multipurpose glue.  Another pretty card!

If you have been thinking about getting the Brusho Crystal Colour set, I hope this gives you some inspiration.  You can find all of the products used in my store – just click the Shop Now button in the upper right corner or click here.  Drop me a comment if you have any questions.

Falling in Love

I love Valentine’s Day because of all the wonderful ways of expressing how we feel towards friends, family and loved ones.  It’s also a time when I made lots of cards, treat holders and other love-themed projects.

Today’s card is pretty clean and simple.  The large amount of white space really helps show off the pretty paper used for the heart die cuts.  Let’s talk about how it is made.

lovely valentine w

The card base is A2 size, 4.25″ x 11″ scored and folded at 5-1/2″  I cut it from a sheet of Powder Pink card stock (144244) as I wanted something subtle so as not to take away from the focal image.  The focal panel is a piece of 4″ x 5-1/4″ Whisper White card stock (100730).  I stamped the sentiment from Beautiful Bouquet stamp set (143666) using Versamark ink (102283), covered it with Gold Stampin’ Emboss powder (109129) and set it with the Heat Tool (129053).

The hearts were made using Painted with Love DSP (145580) and Color Theory Memories and More (144210) paper cut out using the Lots to Love Framelits Dies(145653).  Before adhering them to the card front panel, I laid them out to see where to stamp the flourish from the Beautiful Peacock stamp set (147239).  Once I had the placement correct, I inked up the flourish stamp in Calypso Coral ink (126983).  For a bit of variety I then reinked just the top half of the flourish stamp with Melon Mambo (126948) and stamped over the top of the original one.  Love the depth it gives this “tail.”  I then stamped the little flowers from the Beautiful Peacock stamp set (147239) using Versamark ink (102283), Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder 109129) and heat set it with the Heat Tool (129053).  The centers of the flowers are Pearl Basic Jewels (144219) colored with Stampin Blends in Calypso Coral Dark (144044) and Rich Razzleberry Dark (144583).

Now I was ready to adhere the hearts.  The purple one is glued down with Multipurpose Liquid Glue (110755) and the pink/gold one is propped up using Stampin’ Dimensionals (104430).

For the inside of the card, I stamped the coordinating sentiment from the Beautiful Bouquet stamp set (143666) using Melon Mambo ink (126948) onto a 4″ x 5-1/4″ panel of Whisper White card stock (100730).  I then adhered it to the card using Multipurpose Liquid Glue (110755).

And there you have it!  This card also works for weddings and anniversaries.  I hope you will give it a try.  As always, if you have any questions at all bout how it is made just drop me a comment below.  If you need to order any supplies, you can click on the Shop Now button in the upper right corner or click here; that will take you right into my store.  Ta for now!

Love – for the Inkin’ Krew Blog Hop

Hot ‘lanta has frozen over!  While we have been spared the snow that the rest of the East Coast seems to be getting, I haven’t seen temps this cold since I left Colorado – even Ms. Wynnie is spending nights indoors.  The upside is that I get to spend time in my warm, cozy craft room just in time for this month’s Amy’s Inkin’ Krew Blog Hop!  Yay!

There were two suites in the new catalogs that I immediately fell in love with – Sure Do Love You and Petal Palette.  Can you say gorgeous?  And with Valentine’s Day just around the corner I decided to find a way to use both suites together.  I had viewed a great YouTube video on how to make a concertina wallet filled with love bombs and decided to give it a go.  This little wallet really packs a lot of love as you can see from the pic below.

Love blog

Sweet, right?  The wallet is so easy to put together and the 4 little “bombs” took no time at all.  It is also very frugal on DSP which made it easier to cut into that wowza paper rather than hoarding it (c’mon, you know y’all do that too).  So how is it made?  Rather than totally reinvent the wheel, I am going to point you to the very same YouTube video I watched:  Love Bomb Concertina Wallet.  Sam (Pootles Papercraft) is one of my favorite YouTubers and I know you will enjoy her video.

To stay with my Valentine’s theme, I used two 6 x 6″ pieces of Powder Pink card stock (144244).  I then scored, trimmed and folded just like in the video.  I used Tear and Tape adhesive (138995) to connect the sides.  This paper is thick so wanted to make sure of a good hold.  I then took two pieces of the Painted with Love Specialty DSP (145580) cut 2-3/4″ square and adhered one to the front and one to the back using Multipurpose Liquid Glue (110755).  I used a paper punch for a small hole on both the front and back, then threaded Powder Pink Finely Woven Ribbon (144134) through the front hole, wrapping around to the back and out through that hole.  This makes for a neat way to close your wallet when full.  I then stamped the sentiment from Petal Palette stamp set (145785) in Melon Mambo ink (126948) on Whisper White card stock (100730).  I also stamped one of the little florets from that stamp set in Calypso Coral ink (126983).  I then cut this out using one of the ovals from the Stitched Shapes Framelits (145372).  This was adhered to the front using Stampin’ Dimensionals (104430).  Isn’t it adorable?

Now that the wallet was done, I needed some love bombs for the inside.  This will hold four of them nicely.   Two were cut from Whisper White Cardstock (10073) and two from the Painted with Love Specialty DSP (145580).  I stamped the bouquet from Petal Palette stamp set (145785) in Calypso Coral ink (126983) on a 2-3/4″ square of Whisper White.  For the next one, I stamped the sentiment from Sure Do Love You stamp set (1415763) again in Calypso Coral ink.  This was cut out with the die from the Lots to Love Box Framelits Dies (145653).  I attached this to a 2-3/4″ square piece of the Painted with Love Specialty DSP using Multipurpose Liquid Glue.  For the third one, I stamped the sentiment from Petal Palette stamp set (145785) using Melon Mambo ink onto a scrap piece of Whisper White.  I then used the 1-3/4″ Circle Punch (119850) to punch this out and attached it to another piece of the Painted with Love Specialty DSP.   The last love bomb has a sentiment from Eastern Beauty stamp set (143675) stamped in Melon Mambo on a 2-3/4″ square of Whisper White.  I then used the Decorative Ribbon Border Punch (143721) on the last little scrap of DSP and adhered it to the bottom using Multipurpose Liquid Glue.  And that was that!  Below is a close-up pic of how they turned out.
