Thankful

blog header

Time once again for another Amy’s Inkin’ Krew blog hop and this month’s theme is giving thanks.  The Country Home stamp set and Country Lane DSP are perfect for creating a card that is all about being thankful for those special people in your life.

Thankful w

I wanted to use at least some non-traditional colors, so went with the richness of Blackberry Bliss as the main color.  The card base is a piece of Blackberry Bliss cardstock that is cut 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″, scored and folded at 4-1/4″.  That makes it a side-fold card which gave lots of room for the lovely stamped images.  I used a pice of Whisper White measuring 3-1/2″ x 4-3/4″ for the design panel and stamped as follows:

  • Milk can was stamped using Gray Granite ink and colored in with both the light and dark Smoky Slate Blends.  I then stamped the oval with Tuxedo Black stamped off and then stamped Love in the center with the same ink, again stamped off.
  • The floral cattail and leaves image was stamped in Gray Granite and colored in with Soft Suede dark for the cattails, Blackberry Bliss light and dark for the leaves, Old Olive light and dark for the artichoke, Crumb Cake light for the smaller leaves and Daffodil Delight dark for the berrries.
  • The sentiment was stamped in Blackberry Bliss.

The design panel was then glued to a piace of Blackberry Bliss cardstock measuring 3-5/8″ x 4-5/8′.  I wrapped a length of Braided Linen ribbon beneath the sentiment and secured to the back using Mini Glue Dots.  I then mounteda piece of the beautiful Country Lane DSP which measures 4″ x 5-1/4″ to the front of the card base using Multipurpose Liquid Glue.  The design panel was placed on top of this using Stampin’ Dimensionals.  Lasty, I added three ofthe silver metallic pearls for accents.

I hope you enjoy the card and will give it a try.  Below is a list of all items used to make it.  Now on with the hop!  Just click on the Next or Previous buttons to see more thankful creations!

Birthday “Fishes” – For the Inkin’ Krew Blog Hop

Time once again to participate in the Inkin’ Krew Blog Hop and this month it’s all about birthdays!  So be sure to hop through the list at the bottom to see lots of great birthday cards.

I just opened up my box of goodies from the new 2018 catalog and one stamp set in particular just “jumped” out at me – All The Good Things.  Koi are my favorite fish so I knew I would be making a card right away with this stamp set.

June birthday blog card w

This one went together very quickly as the Koi image and the sentiment I chose are both quite large so not much other stamping needed to be done.  I started with a card base of Rich Razzleberry (standard A2 size of 4-1/4″ x 11″ scored and folded at 5-1/2″) and topped that with a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of the gorgeous Nature’s Poem DSP.  Next I cut another piece of the Rich Razzleberry card stock – this time measuring 3-3/8″ x 3-7/8″ and set it aside.

Then it was time to work on the design panel.  This piece of Whisper White cardstock measures 3-1/4″ x 3-3/4″.  I laid this into my Stamparatus as the Koi stamp is quite large and I knew I would be stamping it in two different inks.  I then took the Koi stamp from the All The Good Things stamp set and positioned it on the paper and closed the plate to pick up the stamp.  Now for the fun part!  The Koi stamp has an attached sentiment which is lovely but not what I wanted for this card so I masked the sentiment with tape before doing any inking.  Once that was done I chose two colors of ink, Cajun Craze and Crushed Curry.  Now you don’t need to use two inks but I wanted to see if I could give it a little extra color so it would more closely resemble the Koi I have seen.  I first inked up the stamp with Cajun Craze ink, removed the tape and stamped it on the design panel.  The coverage you get with this stamp is awesome so I didn’t need to go back over it.  Next, I wiped off the stamp,  inked it up this time with the Crushed Curry ink (remembering to mask the sentiment with tape) and stamped it.  This is where the Stamparatus really comes in handy as you know it is going to stamp in exactly the same spot as before.  And you can see some of the Crushed Curry ink on the image giving it more of that two-tone look.

Now that I had my image stamped, it was time for a sentiment.  The one I chose is from the Picture Perfect Birthday stamp set.  A wonderful Koi fish needed a wonderful sentiment, right?  I inked it up using Rich Razzleberry ink and stamped it to the left of the Koi.  Perfect!!!  I then grabbed the mat I had cut previously and attached it to the back of the design panel with Multipurpose Liquid Glue, skewing it off kilter for added interest.  This was then attached to the card base using Stampin’ Dimensionals.  For a few additional design elements, I cut up one of the Pearlized Doilies and affixed with the Multipurpose Liquid Glue to the bottom left of the design panel and then to the upper right behind the Rich Razzleberry mat.  A few rhinestones and the card was finished!

So be sure to grab the All Things Good stamp set – it really is a lovely one.  Now on to the rest of the hop.  Just click on the Next or Previous buttons below or on any of the links in the below list.  Happy hopping!

Peaceful Reflection – For the Inkin’ Krew Blog Hop

So, without further ado – here is one of those stamp sets that you know you want from the moment you lay eyes on it.  It’s called Peaceful Reflections and I thought it was perfect for our feminine theme.

Inkin Krew blog hop w

The card base is a returning color – Mint Macaron – which is 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ scored and folded at 4-1/4″ for a side folding card.  I then took a 4″ x 4″ square of Share What You Love Designer Series Paper and sliced it in half on the diagonal.  Each triangle was then fixed to the card base leaving a narrow border of the Mint Macaron to show throw.  This left a gap in the middle over which I attached about 7″ of of the Berry Burst Metallic Edge Ribbon (I am so happy this carried over) using Mini Glue Dots.

Next it was time to work on the design panel.  I used one of the new Delightfully Detailed Note Cards, cutting it in half and using the front.  Love the softness and how the color fades, making it look like water.  Less work for me LOL!   I started with the large water rings from the Peaceful Reflection Stamp Set inked in Pool Party.  I then inked the bottom layer of the water plant using So Saffron and stamped it down.  The top layer of the water plant was inked in Pear Pizzazz.  I just love layering stamps, don’t you?  Then it was time to stamp the dragonflies.  The bottom layer is inked with Memento Tuxedo Black and the wings filled in with the second layer inked in Wild Wisteria (I will miss this color but love the new purples they came out with).

The sentiment is from the Love What You Do Stamp Set.  I inked it in Pool Party to tie in the water rings below and stamped it in the upper right of the design panel. A quick brush of Wink of Stella on the water plant and dragonfly wings and the card was almost done.  For a finishing touch I added 3 rhinestone accents.

I hope you enjoyed my card, and seeing some of the wonderful new things that will be available for our customers to order starting June 1st.   There’s much more to come, so stay tuned!

March Paper Pumpkin Card Alternative – Tuesday Beginner Series

It’s my last day in Texas but before I head out to the airport I wanted to post the video from our Tuesday Beginner Series Facebook Live session.  Working with supplies from the March Paper Pumpkin kit we created a lovely Mother’s Day card.  If you weren’t able to join us, you can view the video below.

This kit has so many possibilities for alternative cards that it was hard to come up with just one!  I hope you enjoy it.

To order future Paper Pumpkin kits, just click on the Shop Now icon in the upper right or you can click here.

Just a reminder that there will not be a Saturday Anything Goes Facebook Live this week as I will be attending the Stampin’ Up! OnStage local convention.  So I will see you all next Tuesday.  Ta for now!
